The Michigan Economic Development Corporation is planning to deploy a booth presence at the Medical Design & Manufacturing West Expo, currently slated for August 10-12, in Anaheim, CA. This event affords access to over 2,000 exhibitors, 20,000 attendees, representation of 50 countries, all with a focus on medical devices & technology and adjacent sectors.
The MEDC plans to host six small companies at the booth, targeting representation from different regions throughout the state. This is a STEP-eligible event, and we plan to leverage the MI-STEP grant as appropriate with companies in attendance. In addition, we are also planning to approach the show with an attraction focus as well. At this stage, we are working to identify Michigan medical device companies that may be a good fit to attend the show.
The current company NAICS targets are the following: 333314 (Optical Instrument and Lens Manufacturing), 334510 (Electromedical and Electrotherapeutic Apparatus Manufacturing), 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing), 339112 (Surgical and Medical Instrument Manufacturing), 339113 (Surgical Appliance and Supplies Manufacturing), 339114 (Dental Equipment and Supplies Manufacturing), 339115 (Ophthalmic Goods Manufacturing).
If you know of any companies in your regions that may have an interest in attending and would also be a potential fit for this conference, have any questions on company eligibility, and/or if you have any questions in general, please reach out to Tino Breithaupt (breithauptt@michigan.org) and Mark Ignash (ignashm1@michigan.org). The goal is to have all companies identified for attendance by June 1, 2021.
