Success Story

Business Name: Hart & Associates Construction

Owner: Tiffany Hart

When Tiffany Hart began biding on large contracts like the $1 million one her company has with the M-Rail Project, she knew she needed financing to purchase equipment in order to increase capacity. She was already a client of the Women’s Business Center, so she leveraged that relationship and applied for the CEED Lending Microloan Program, another initiative of the Great Lakes Women’s Business Council. Tiffany was approved for a microloan that allowed her to purchase much needed equipment, while eliminating rental payments and freeing up cash flow. She was now in a position to bid on larger contracts and grow her firm.

Hart has taken advantage of several programs offered by the Women’s Business Center including its annual Leadership Institute for Women events where attended a life altering session on financial management occurred. The workshop leaders were so impressive that Hart hired them for her company shortly after. Another Leadership Institute for Women event on strategic planning helped her identify a niche in the highly competitive construction industry, Tiffany then launched a division in her company – Safety Flag. This business strategy was instrumental in helping her secure a contract with the highly publicized M-1 Rail transportation project in the City of Detroit.
